Parenting Stress, Social Support and Mental Health of Female Soldiers with Preschool Children

Abstract
Purpose: The study aimed to identify the relationship among the parenting stress, social support, and mental health of female soldiers with preschool children.

Methods: This is a descriptive correlation study utilizing a self-report questionnaire. An online survey was conducted from June 16 to August 16, 2021 to collect data on women serving in the Republic of Korea army, navy, and air force with preschool children.

Results: A total of 170 female soldiers completed the survey. The mean depression and anxiety scores were 51.72¡¾9.84 and 51.82¡¾11.95, respectively. The mental health, parenting stress and social support of female soldiers with preschool children were found to be significantly correlated (.16¡Âr¡Â.79, .05Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that it is important to promote social support, such as military support and private support, and reduce depression and anxiety experienced by female soldiers with preschool children.
